If you missed it in the news, the band also have a new track coming out in homage to their all time favourites Chic and Nile Rodgers.
The main focus of the track is the vocals featuring Alga Anderson and the Middle 8 section where there is a funky interplay between the string section and brass.

Hallowe'en has been around for several centuries and has a very important meaning in the lives of many. It would be safe to assume that Hallowe'en is going to be around for a long time and have an enormous impact on the lives of many people. Social & Cultural Factors Hallowe'en has a large role in Culture. Many people can often be seen taking part in activities associated with Hallowe'en. This is partly because people of most ages can be involved and families are brought together by this. Generally a person who displays their dislike for Hallowe'en may be considered an outcast. Economic Factors It is not common practice to associate economics with Hallowe'en. Generally, Hallowe'en would be thought to have no effect on our economic situation, but there are in fact some effects. The sales industry associated with Hallowe'en is actually a 1.3 billion dollar a year industry and growing each year. The industry employs nearly 150,000 people in the United States alone. It would be safe to say that Hallowe'en play an important role in American economics and shouldn't be taken for granted. Environmental Factors After a three month long research project, I've been able to conclude that Hallowe'en doesn't negatively effect the environment at all. A Hallowe'en did not seem to result in waste products and couldn't be found in forests, jungles, rivers, lakes, oceans, etc... In fact, Hallowe'en produced some positive effects on our sweet little nature. Political Factors Oh does Hallowe'en ever influence politics. Last year 5 candidates running for some sort of position used Hallowe'en as the primary topic of their campaign. A person might think Hallowe'en would be a bad topic to lead a campaign with, but in fact with the social and environmental impact is has, this topic was able to gain a great number of followers. These 5 candidates went 4 for 5 on winning their positions. Conclusion Hallowe'en seem to be a much more important idea that most give credit for. Next time you see or think of Hallowe'en, think about what you just read and realize what is really going on. It is likely you under valued Hallowe'en before, but will now start to give the credited needed and deserved.
Alfa Anderson, Former Lead Singer of
Chic, Releases New Single
Alfa Anderson, former
lead singer of the platinum selling group, Chic, has released a new single,
appropriately titled, Former Lady of
Chic. The single is the brain child of her sons, Eluriah and Taurie (aka
The Orkastrator) who collaborated with her husband, Eluriel Tinkr Barfield, to
write and produce a song that documents her contribution to the music
industry. People may not know or remember that it is her
voice you hear on Chic’s chart-topping hits like Le Freak, I WantYour Love and Good Times. Former Ladyof Chic is her calling card.
There are lots of
“former lady” titles that can be used to describe Alfa, notable among them is
her onstage and studio work with the great Luther Vandross. “Luther mentored my artistic growth and was
very instrumental in helping develop the Chic vocal sound.”
With the resurgence
of classic 80’s dance music, Alfa finds herself once again in the
spotlight. Earlier this year, she was
interviewed for a Nile Rodgers segment about the disco era for TVOne’sUnsung. That segment will appear next season. She was recently interviewed for the Diana
Ross anniversary release of the Chic-produced album (Diana) on which Alfa sang background and for the newly released
Chic compilation Up All Night:The Greatest Hits. Earlier this month, Christian John Wikane
interviewed her for PopMatters. That interview and the review of her single, Former Lady of Chic, will appear later
this summer at www.popmatters.com. In
his upcoming book, tentatively titled Original
Disco Legends, Jim Arena devotes an entire chapter to Alfa and her work in
the industry. The book is scheduled to
be released in the spring of 2014.
